Milling from a drawing or vector file

We provide CNC milling in Riga for sheet materials, producing parts from a drawing, vector file or approved artwork. Mechanical CNC engraving is also available in suitable materials.

Advertising production: for letters, logos, boards, displays and shaped elements. Interiors and component production: for decorative panels, furniture parts, templates and repeatable shapes.

Material, tooling and machining method are selected for the part shape, size and final use. If there is no drawing yet, a sketch with the main dimensions is enough to start.

We produce one-off parts, prototypes and samples, small batches and repeatable series. The price depends on the file, material and quantity.

Machining options

Shape cutting

Parts are cut from an approved vector file or drawing.

Contour milling

Outer and inner contours are machined to the lines specified in the file.

Holes and cut-outs

We prepare holes, cut-outs and fixing points from an approved drawing.

CNC engraving

In suitable materials we use CNC for mechanical engraving and milled recesses.

Finishing

After milling, parts can be edge or surface finished, UV printed, lacquered or installed. We agree the solution according to the material and final use.

Mecapro NL4121

CNC work is carried out on a Mecapro NL4121 milling machine at the MadFormat production site in Riga: work area 2100 × 4100 mm, maximum processing size 2000 × 4000 mm, Z axis up to 325 mm, spindle power 8-9.6 kW, up to 28,000 rpm.

Technical drawings

If you do not have a finished drawing, our specialists will prepare one: precise drawings to the technical specifications and your requirements, so production runs quickly and efficiently.

What affects price and production time

CNC milling price depends on the material, part dimensions and amount of work. We calculate the exact price once we have reviewed the drawing.

Material and thickness

Material type and thickness determine tooling, machining speed and cost.

Cutting length

The longer the total contour, the more machine time the job takes.

Dimensions and complexity

Part dimensions, fine shapes, inside corners and relief determine machining complexity.

Number of parts

Repeating parts can be nested in the sheet more economically than a single piece.

Holes and finishing

The number of holes and openings, fixing points and required edge or surface finishing add to the workload.

File readiness

A clear, scaled file with closed contours reduces preparation before milling.

The production deadline is stated in the quote after assessing the drawing and the amount of work.

Important before ordering

The drawing must be to scale

State the final dimensions. If the file is not to scale, we will confirm the scale with you before production.

Contours must be closed

Vector lines must form closed shapes. Put cutting and drilling lines on separate layers.

Smallest details

We check from the file whether the finest shapes can be made in the chosen material and, if needed, suggest a more suitable material or thickness.

Customer-supplied material

If you supply the material yourself, agree the thickness, size and condition of the sheet in advance.

If there is no drawing

Send a sketch with the main dimensions and a photo, and we will prepare the cutting file from them.

What we make with CNC milling

Letters, signs and plates made to an approved contour and size.

  • Milled letters and logos

We mill letters and logos from PVC, acrylic or aluminium composite using a vector file with closed contours. State the letter height, material thickness and fixing method.

  • Signs

For aluminium composite signs we mill the contour, openings and grooves for folding, so the sheet can be bent to shape. After milling the signs can be UV printed.

  • Information boards

We CNC cut information boards to the required shape, and in suitable material the text can be mechanically engraved. For fine surface marking we recommend laser engraving.

  • Contour-cut shapes

We mill contour-cut shapes from large-format sheets, machining outer and inner lines exactly as drawn in the file. Put cutting and drilling lines on separate layers.

Materials

The Mecapro NL4121 handles a wide range of materials: wood and wood composites, plastics, aluminium composite panels, soft metals, composites, insulation boards and other sheet materials. We choose the specific material by part size, load and whether the part will be used indoors or outdoors.

  • PVC

For signs, letters, information boards, templates and lightweight shaped parts.

We choose the PVC type and thickness to suit the part shape and use.

  • Acrylic (PMMA)

For letters, logos, boards, display and interior elements.

We choose the acrylic type for the part and the required edge quality. Mechanical engraving in acrylic is also possible.

  • Aluminium composite

For signs, facade elements, wayfinding, boards and shaped parts.

For example Neobond, Alucobond, Dibond and equivalents. We also mill grooves for folding; the solution is adapted to the construction and fixing method.

  • Wood and wood composites

For decorative panels, furniture and interior parts, templates and parts from drawings.

MDF, OSB, plywood, solid wood, TRESPA and other phenolic panels. We choose the right one for each project.

  • Polycarbonate, polypropylene and other polymers

For boards, shaped elements and parts from drawings.

PEHD, PS, PET, PETG, PU, ABS; solid or cellular panels.

  • Soft metals

For plates, markings and parts from drawings.

Aluminium, copper, brass, zinc. Steel, stainless steel and titanium only to a limited extent.

  • Composites and honeycomb panels

    For technical parts from drawings.

Glass/epoxy, carbon/epoxy, Nida and Nomex honeycomb panels.

  • Tooling boards for moulds and models

    For moulds, models and prototypes.

    We also machine mineral-based panels.

  • Lightweight insulation materials

    For lightweight shapes and parts.

    Foam board, XPS, polyurethane boards.

  • Other sheet materials

For technical parts, templates and models.

Rubber, linoleum, cardboard, paper, decorative laminates.

If you have not chosen the material or thickness yet, describe where the part will be used and we will recommend the best option.

How ordering works

  1. Vector and drawing check

We open the vector file or drawing and check the 1:1 scale, closed contours and whether inner corners and narrow sections can be milled.

  2. Material, thickness and cutter

We agree the sheet and its thickness, such as PVC, acrylic, aluminium composite, plywood or MDF, and select a tool that suits the part shape.

  3. Toolpath and nesting

We prepare the toolpath, nest the parts on the sheet and, where needed, run a trial cut for a complex shape or new material.

  4. Milling and edge finishing

Parts are milled on the Mecapro NL4121, edges are cleaned and, if agreed, the parts are printed, lacquered or prepared for installation.

Finished parts can be collected from the MadFormat production site in Riga. Delivery or installation can be arranged depending on the job and location.

Frequently asked questions

Can you produce a single part?

Yes, we produce single parts as well as repeatable series.

What file is needed for CNC milling?

DXF, DWG, AI, EPS or SVG work best. A PDF drawing with clear dimensions can also be used.

Can you help prepare the drawing?
